This article will explain how to Configure SMTP Authentication on the MDaemon server and Outlook mail client.
MDaemon can be configured to force SMTP Authentication when a sender claims to be a local user. This feature helps prevent spammers from sending as the local MDaemon users without authenticating. If this feature isn't enabled, a spammer would only have to know a local user's email address in order to send messages as that user. Use this article to configure MDaemon to force SMTP Authentication if the sender claims to be from a local account.
- Select Security
- Select Security Settings
- Expand Sender Authentication
- Select SMTP Authentication
- Select Authentication is always required when mail is from local accounts
- Leave ...unless message is to a local account unchecked
- Select Apply
- Select OK
With SMTP Authentication enabled on the server, the local sending clients will need to be configured to send messages using SMTP Authentication.
