How do I configure SMTP Authentication on the MDaemon server and Outlook mail client?

This article will explain how to Configure SMTP Authentication on the MDaemon server and Outlook mail client.

MDaemon can be configured to force SMTP Authentication when a sender claims to be a local user. This feature helps prevent spammers from sending as the local MDaemon users without authenticating. If this feature isn't enabled, a spammer would only have to know a local user's email address in order to send messages as that user. Use this article to configure MDaemon to force SMTP Authentication if the sender claims to be from a local account.

  1. Select Security
  2. Select Security Settings
  3. Expand Sender Authentication
  4. Select SMTP Authentication
  5. Select Authentication is always required when mail is from local accounts
    • Leave ...unless message is to a local account unchecked
  6. Select Apply
  7. Select OK

With SMTP Authentication enabled on the server, the local sending clients will need to be configured to send messages using SMTP Authentication.
