If the problem is related to a fax device, see the first option. If the problem is related to converting emails to faxes, skip to the second option.
Two diagnostic logging options from RelayFax are described below. Both options enable the creation of debug log files that are not automatically deleted. Once information has been gathered, these options should be disabled to avoid running out of disk space.
Debug Logging Option
[Special] DebugLogging=No
From the File menu select RelayFax Properties and navigate to the Contacts and Logs tab. The debug logging option can be changed here or by editing the DebugLogging option in RelayFax.ini located in the \RelayFax\App directory. Once the setting change has been saved, you must re-initialize any active devices before the change will be applied to that device.
When debug logging is enabled, files that start with a 'M_' prefix will be created in the Logs directory ( \RelayFax\Logs by default) for each active device. These files are kept open while running for performance reasons. RelayFax must be shut down to access these files.
When reporting issues, please include the TIF and XML files associated with the problem fax. These are found in the FaxFile directory and contain the tracking number in the filename. Also include the associated log file snippet from Modem In or Modem Out.
Message Logging Option
[Special] DebugSaveMSGFiles=No
This option can only be changed by editing the DebugSaveMSGFiles option in RelayFax.ini. You must restart RelayFax for the change to be applied.
When message logging is enabled, a copy of every message received is created in the RFC822 directory with a .TMP extension.
