How to create and configure Groups and Templates in MDaemon

The Group Manager is used to create Groups and manage which accounts belong to them. Groups have a number of different uses and functions. Templates are defined sets of account settings that can be assigned to specific Groups.

With the Group Manager, using the Group Properties menu, you can assign a template to a Group. A template applied to one or more groups will have the designated account settings locked for group members. The assigned template will control these settings rather than the Account Editor. This allows you to control a variety of account settings for group members.

This configuration can be set up in both MDaemon and MDaemon Remote Administration. This article covers both interfaces.

Follow the steps below to set up this configuration in MDaemon.

In this example, we'll create a group and add users to the group. Then we'll create a template with defined options for the Web Services menu and apply the template to the group.

  1. Open MDaemon
  2. Select Accounts
  3. Select Groups & Templates...
  4. Click Group Manager
  5. Click New group
  6. Enter a Group name and description (Group01 in this example).
