This article covers how to reset passwords to global administrator accounts in SecurityGateway.
SecurityGateway includes a specialized tool to interact with the database in various ways. This tool can be used to reset the global administrator passwords in the event a global administrator password is lost or forgotten.
If you are a domain administrator and have lost or forgotten the domain administrator password, please contact your global administrator.
Access to the SecurityGateway server is necessary to perform these steps.
- Stop the SecurityGateway service either by accessing the Windows Services menu (services.msc) and stopping the service.
- Alternatively, open a elevated command prompt, type net stop securitygateway, and press enter to stop the service.
- Open a elevated command prompt and navigate to the App folder where SecurityGateway is installed; cd C:\Program Files\MDaemon Technologies\SecurityGateway\App\
- Enter sgdbtool listadmins and press enter to view a list of all the global administrator accounts that exist in the database.
- Enter sgdbtool reset and press enter.
You can now login to the addresses listed in the 'listadmins' command output using the full email address and no password.
Performing the above command will blank out the local passwords for all global administrators listed in the 'listadmins' command. It is critical that the passwords for these accounts be replaced as soon as possible to prevent any unwanted access.
